ENTRIES are now open for one of York’s most popular charity fun runs.

The arena Group York Mini Run is taking place on Sunday August 4 and invites youngsters, aged between 3 and 8 to run jump or walk for charity.

Starting and finishing on Knavesmire Road, the mini and juniors will run, jog and walk around a course that features scenic highlights including York Racecourse, cheered on by a crowd of supports led by the runs’ popular mascot, Arena Owl.

On the same day, the Junior run, for ages 9 to 15, and the Asda Foundation York 10K will also be taking place, inviting runners of all ages and abilities to unite by hand a fundraising for a number of charities.

The events are part of the 2019 Run For All calendar, in memory of Jane Tomlinson’s lasting legacy. Jane Tomlinson CBE raised £1.85m for children’s and cancer charities by taking part in incredible endurance challenges before her untimely death from cancer aged just 43 in 2007.

Following in Jane’s fundraising footsteps, the 2019 Arena Group York Mini and Junior Run will support the Jane Tomlinson Appeal as an official partner charity.

Appeal Manager, Vicki Robinson, said: “We are so happy to be a part of this amazing community event and can’t wait to see children of all ages getting out and active this summer.

“By signing up to take part in these fun runs and raising just a small amount in sponsorship, youngsters can help us carry on Jane’s legacy – to help children be happier and healthier and to improve the lives of people living with cancer.

“Come and join the Appeal team today!”

Adrian Fitzpatrick, Managing Director of the run’s sponsors, Arena Group, said: “We are proud to be associated with such a fantastic and family-friendly event. It is a great way to provide children with the incentive to get out into the fresh air, exercise and raise money for a good cause.”

Sponsorship and Corporate Manager, Nicola Christian, of organisers Run For All, said: “The family fun run is always such a fun, friendly and - most importantly - inclusive event. It is an event for everyone so if you or your child has any special considerations, please contact us - we'll be happy to help them enjoy the experience.

“The family fun run takes place on the same day as the York 10K, so we very excited for a very special atmosphere for 2019.”
