A NEW children's book published by The Yorkshire Air Museum has been praised in an international magazine.

Plane Tales was published by the museum, after volunteer guide Chris Collard imagined the conversations between the aircraft exhibits after the museum was closed.

The stories are fully illustrated with colourful images by artist Mick Groves, and the stories include facts about the aircraft, with the project overseen by deputy director of the museum, Barbara George.

This month, the book was featured in Flypast magazine, which looks at aviation heritage around the world, and received a positive review.

It said: "Producing books about aircraft for young children is no easy task, and the Yorkshire Air Museum is to be congratulated on producing one of the best we have seen, written in sympathetic and easy to follow style."

Barbara George said: "It has been exciting to see our museum’s well loved aircraft come to life through Chris’ accomplished storytelling and Mick’s delightful illustrations. This book is a real treasure that young and old will enjoy discovering together, making a great souvenir from a visit or an ideal gift."

The book costs £5.99, plus postage, and can be bought from the museum shop, by phoning 01904 608719 or online at yorkshireairmuseum.org
