THE CONVICTED kingpin behind a drug smuggling gang remains on the run more than six weeks after failing to appear at court.
Alfred Philip Dear, 45, formerly of James Street Caravan Site in York, was jailed in his absence for his part as head of a Class A drug supply ring, following a three-year investigation by North Yorkshire Police.
His ten co-conspirators were jailed in December for more than 102 years for conspiracy to supply heroin and cocaine in York, but Dear failed to turn up at court and has not been seen since.
A £5,000 reward has been offered by Crimestoppers for information which leads to Dear's arrest.
