York is a unique city. Why are there certain people who seem hell bent on ruining it?

City of York Council must not allow houses to be built near Askham Bog. The impact would destroy the bog. No amount of money would replace it if it is destroyed. There are other places that can be considered for house building.

The council itself intends to build a multi storey carpark and houses on St George’s car park. Why? The car park floods frequently. It is a prime piece of land between two rivers with the most beautiful trees. We need another green park which visitors and residents could enjoy: this would be ideal.

Yes, the council wants to get money from parking, yes it wants to appease businesses who want parking near the city, but why there? York city centre already has a pollution problem. There are other places to build a car park that will not impact the city so much.

We are constantly told that people need to exercise more. There are a lot of mental health issues these days. When talking to mental health organisations in York, I asked what would it mean to have more green spaces? The answer was that it would do a lot of good.

We need to people on the council who want to better the environment for the residents, people who are bold enough to take that step towards making it a greener, healthier York.

Fox was a beautiful early morning sight

AT 5.30am this morning I looked out of my kitchen window and what should be running up Vanburgh Drive but a full grown fox.

Had it been not so slippy and cold I would have gone out to see where it was running to. But what a beautiful sight. I didn’t know we had any in the area but will keep an eye out in future. As I’m sure will the rest of Badger Hill.
