PARTS of North Yorkshire are being hit by more snow showers today (February 2).
Sergeant Paul Cording tweeted that there were "challenging driving conditions" towards the east coast in North Yorkshire this morning and urged motorists to take care if they are out and about on the roads today.
Dalby Forest near Pickering is closed today "due to heavy snow showers making access difficult".
North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group wrote on Twitter this morning that the A171 South of Whitby was "impassable" due to snow. It said officers have been dealing with numerous collisions and stranded vehicles.
Traffic constable Mark Patterson has also tweeted about a crash on the A64 this morning, which happened at Scampston, near Malton. He said it involved one vehicle and there were no injuries.
The forecast for the region this afternoon is cold and windy with sunny spells and further hail and snow showers in places, but some areas will miss them.
