How can the city council extol the virtues of saying they are cleaning up the city by reducing pollution from vehicle emissions and then in the same breath agree to take a £200,000 donation and add to it a further £100,000 of council tax money to go up in smoke and gunpowder for fireworks on November 5? (£300,000 firework show funded by city in China, The Press, January 19).

It beggars belief how this council is so hypocritical and wastes money so blatantly when there are so many more worthy things to consider spending money on.

And while they think about it they might think to send someone to turn the Christmas lights off?

Or have Christmas celebrations started early this year?
