Residents attending the Residents’ Festival this weekend might also want to take advantage of the late running Park&Ride services on four of the six routes and save on the cost and hassle of city centre parking.

The Monks Cross No 9 service runs until 21.37 Monday to Saturday but the Designer Outlet No 7 and Askham Bar No 3 run every evening up until 22.34 and the Rawcliffe Bar No 2 now runs until 22.45 from Museum Street.

Better still, all apart from the No 9 will drop you off at any stop en route, so can be used by those without a car more cheaply than alternatives such as a taxi home.

While these services only operate every 40mins it is certainly worth supporting if you can, to demonstrate the commercial demand for buses running into the evening. Full details available on itravelyork

See the cemetery birds with guide

Join the Friends of York Cemetery on Sunday, January 27, from 10am to 4pm, as part of the York Residents’ Festival.

The RSPB are not available to join us this year but we have the services of a local bird warden who has offered to do two bird identification slots at 11am and 2pm.

Two of our volunteers are also making fat balls.

Both activities are suitable for children and there is no pre-booking required.

Taster walks with our guides exploring the history of this Victorian garden cemetery and garden walks are also available.

And the genealogists will be in the chapel for grave searches.

We will also have a Friends of York Cemetery information stall.

Everyone welcome.

Everything will be free, including tea/coffee and cake, but donations will be welcome.
