A BRIEF respite is on the way for motorists and pedestrians who again struggled along treacherously icy roads and pavements this morning following a little overnight snow.

Side streets in York were covered in a light dusting of icy snow following wintry showers which passed through in the early hours.

After another chilly night tonight, temperatures are set to soar as high as 11C tomorrow as westerly winds bring a temporary mild spell

However, after cloudy rainy weather on Saturday, the rain could later turn to sleet or snow and Sunday will be cold day with showers, possibly wintry and next week is set to be cold again.
