POLICE have warned drivers to be aware of icy road conditions in and around York this morning.
North Yorkshire Police Traffic Bureau tweeted: "Very icy across York and further afield this morning. Be aware of icy road conditions and make sure to clear your car of all ice / snow before setting off."
Late last night the force's control room wrote on Twitter: "It’s incredibly bad driving conditions out in York and surrounding areas."
It comes as a yellow warning for ice remains in place for the region and will continue until 11am.
City of York Council has tweeted that gritters have treated York's roads at 3am and footpaths at 4am but has urged motorists to "travel with caution."
