POLICE have issued a warning after a resident was targeted by a bogus workman.
North Yorkshire Police said a man visited a property in Westfield Grove, Eggborough, at about 2pm on Tuesday, January 22, and claimed to be a roofing contractor.
A spokesman said: "He asked for £70 up front and when told by the victim that they only had £20, took it and said his workers would be back in ten minutes. This didn't occur, raising the suspicion of the resident who contacted police."
The man drove a beige vehicle, was described as about 5ft 6ins, of slim build, with black curly hair and "possibly a welsh accent". A female passenger also remained in the vehicle.
Anyone who saw them, or can provide CCTV should phone 101 quoting reference 12190013291.
