YORK Musical Theatre Company is seeking recruits for "exciting backstage roles".

"We've got a packed 2019 of shows and concerts coming up and we're looking for volunteers to fill a variety of roles for this year and future shows, varying from production manager to props," says YMTC publicist and regular performer Anna Mitchelson.

This year, the company will perform Betty Blue Eyes from May 22 to 25 and High Society from November 27 to 30, both at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, Haxby Road, York.

York Musical Theatre Company has been performing musical theatre in York since 1902, presenting musicals, concerts and plays. The company mounted the UK amateur premiere of Titanic The Musical in 2004 and have staged such shows Cabaret, My Fair Lady, Guys And Dolls, Oklahoma! Me And My Girl, Aspects Of Love, A Little Night Music, Acorn Antiques The Musical and Annie in recent years.

"Getting involved with the company really opens doors to new opportunities," says Anna. "Whether you’ve worked backstage in theatre before or have no experience and are just keen to learn some new skills, we would love to hear from you. Roles available include production manager, stage manager, assistant stage manager and deputy stage manager to name a few."

Chairman Richard Bainbridge cannot wait to crack on with this year's events. "We always try to make sure we’re doing fun, ensemble shows that everyone can get involved with, and backstage roles are just as important as roles on stage," he says. "We're really keen to grow our YMTC family and get some new people on board who are looking for experience in backstage work.

"There's always something to help out with and great skills to be learned along the way, as well as great fun to be had! We’d love to hear from anybody across the region who’d like to be involved and maybe do something new for 2019 and beyond."

For further information, or to ask about any of the aforementioned roles, please contact YMTC via the company’s Facebook page. "Just search York Musical Theatre Company," advises Anna. "Alternatively, send an e-mail to info@yorkmusicaltheatrecompany.org.uk."
