THE YORK-BASED Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust have together been named as one of the most inclusive employers in Britain by the lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality charity Stonewall.

They rank 67th in the charity's annual Top 100 out of 445 employers who entered the contest.

Chief executive Campbell Robb said he was 'delighted and very proud' at their listing on the 'prestigious index.'

He said: " Our whole organisation has worked together to ensure that we are as inclusive as we can be for staff, residents and everyone who interacts with us.

“We have a very active LGBT Plus staff network which leads on raising awareness and celebrating the achievements of LGBT people."

Darren Towers, of Stonewall, said the foundation and trust, and all those who had made the Top 100 employers list, were making a huge difference to workplaces, services and communities across the UK.

"With organisations on this list displaying such a strong commitment to LGBT equality, we are one step closer to creating a world where all lesbian, gay, bi and trans employees are welcomed and accepted without exception," he said.
