POP-UP surgeries which police have started holding across York city centre have been welcomed by the boss of the city’s Business Improvement District (BID).
Andrew Lowson says the surgeries are a very accessible way for the public to approach both the BID’s Street Rangers and also police officers.
“The pop-ups also provide a reassuring presence in the city and help to deter crime and anti-social behaviour,” he said.
His comments came after officers from the York City Neighbourhood Policing Team were available last Tuesday in three different locations across the city, in Kings Square, in the Marks & Spencer store and McDonalds.
PC Franky Myers said: “Now we can work from anywhere via phones and tablets, it means officers can be more visible and accessible to the community, addressing any concerns and answering questions.”
