TEN pin bowling and indoor mini golf are set to join the attractions at York’s new Community Stadium.

Hollywood Bowl Group has signed up with Wrenbridge Sport and L&G to take 46,438 sq ft of the complex at Monks Cross.

The group plans to open a 24-lane bowling centre, featuring a bar, American diner and an amusements area, and an indoor mini golf centre, featuring three nine-hole courses, subject to planning permission.

The 8,000 seat stadium is due to be open this summer, providing a new home to the city’s football and rugby league clubs.

The project is being delivered by City of York Council, Greenwich Leisure Limited and Wrenbridge Sport with construction partner, Buckingham Group, and will include a new leisure centre with gym and fitness studios, swimming pools, sports hall, clip and climb and external 3G sports pitches.

The commercial element of the scheme will also feature a 13-screen Cineworld Cinema and restaurants.

Andrew Ferguson, of L&G, said bowling and indoor mini-golf would complement the cinema, restaurants and stadium.

He said this would create a family destination with regional appeal, which would be strengthened further by the close proximity to the Vangarde Shopping Centre, including Next, M&S and John Lewis.

Ewen McLeod, of Wrenbridge Sport, said: “The deal with Hollywood Bowl Group reinforces how attractive the location has become.

“This is an important milestone for the project, which is now 80 per cent pre-let and our focus is on overseeing completion of the build and letting the remaining space, so commercial tenants can start their fit-outs by Summer 2019 and be up and trading by the autumn.”

Laurence Keen, of Hollywood Bowl Group, said it was pleased to have secured what would be 'another prime, high footfall destination to enable us to continue to execute on our new centre opening strategy.'

He added: "We’re delighted to be bringing both the Hollywood Bowl brand and our new indoor mini-golf concept to York and to be a part of this exciting new leisure development.”
