A YELLOW warning has been issued for ice to develop in York and North Yorkshire tonight and tomorrow morning as the weather turns much colder.
The Met Office said there was a risk of people injuring themselves from slips and falls on icy roads and pavements until 11am tomorrow.
Forecasters also say there could be sleet and snow next week in the region, amid an increasing risk of a brisk easterly wind developing and bringing plunging temperatures.
They are also continuing to warn of the possibility of more severe wintry weather arriving towards the end of January and in early February, reminiscent of the 'Beast from the East' conditions seen last February and March.
