YORK Green Party’s Andy D’Agorne will give a talk to the Friends of St Lawrence tomorrow about his life as a York councillor.

Cllr D’Agorne, one of two councillors for Fishergate ward, is the city’s longest-serving Green Party councillor and was first elected in 2003.

He hopes to encourage others to serve as local councillors. His aim as a councillor is to deal with local people’s concerns, to “smarten up the local environment and build an inclusive caring community.”

From supporting local residents trying to block the felling of beech trees, to calling for an inquiry into fire safety following the dramatic roof fire at Fulford Place flats, he has taken up issues that concern local residents as well as working to promote the ‘green agenda’ on City of York Council, which includes improving air quality and encouraging recycling. The talk begins at 7.30pm in the Church Hall in Lawrence Street. It will be followed by tea and cake. A suggested donation of a £2 or above is the entrance charge. All are welcome.
