A LIFE-SAVING defibrillator has been installed at a community centre in Tadcaster.
The device, which is in a secure cabinet that is accessible only by calling 999, has been fitted outside Rosemary House Community Centre.
It was provided by Rosemary House Fundraising Committee, which was set up after the 2015 floods that devastated Tadcaster, and cost £1,600.
Louise Hill, secretary of the committee, said: “Angela Rooke (chairperson) and I are thrilled that Rosemary House Committee have been able to provide this defibrillator for the community and thank everyone who has been involved in fundraising in any way. Rosemary House Committee is committed to helping the community for many years to come.”
She added: “A huge thank you goes to Selby District Council who installed the cabinet for us.”
A grand unveiling for the defibrillator was held on Saturday.
The committee, a group of volunteers, runs regular coffee mornings and fundraises through community cafes at events such as the Tour de Yorkshire and by running stalls at town events such as the duck race.
