A CHARITY ball raised more than £7,000 for a local charity.

York Trusted Professionals held its fourth annual Christmas charity ball at the Novotel in York last month, to raise money for OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity.

OSCAR’s (Ongoing, Support, Care And Research) was formed in November 2014 by the parents and friends of Oscar Hughes, a nine-year-old boy who died of a medulloblastoma in May 2014.

More than 135 people enjoyed live music, a three course meal, disco, raffle and silent auction, compered by Dougie Weake from YO1 Radio.

The event added to funds already raised from a June quiz and the York Marathon in October, taking the total raised by the group for the charity in 2018 to £10,872.

Ian Dawson, founder of York Trusted Professionals - a local business networking organisation - said: “The amount of money raised was amazing. The whole evening was a great success and I want to thank Marie Hughes and the team at OSCAR's, the Novotel, YO1 Radio and especially all the York Trusted Professional members who donated their time, raffle prizes and auction prizes to make it a great success.”
