A YORK restaurant played host to a television series that helps people with disabilities to find love.

Cut & Chase in Goodramgate, York, hosted Emily and her friends in November for the filming of Channel 4’s popular documentary, The Undateables.

The programme follows a range of people on dates who have long term conditions, including disabilities, developmental disorders and learning difficulties.

Emily, 26, from York, will be on the first episode of the brand new series which will be broadcast on Wednesday, January 9, at 9pm.

She was born with a genetic learning disability called Fragile X Syndrome, which means she can sometimes struggle to understand and interpret things.

However, she isn’t letting that stop her finding her first boyfriend, as she is determined to overcome her nerves and her tendency to talk too much.

She said: “All my friends have got boyfriends and I think it’s time for me to have one now.”

Emily is a keen tennis player and a self-confessed shopaholic as she cant resist buying sparkly accessories.

She said: “I have a great selection of hobbies and a good group of friends so the only thing missing is someone to cheer me on from the courtside.”

Beverley Taylor, restaurant manager at Cut and Chase, said Emily and three of her friends attended the restaurant on November 20, to have a few drinks and discuss her ideal catch.

She said: “It was lovely to meet Emily and her friends and we have both our fingers and toes crossed that Emily will find true love with her Mr Right.

“The girls enjoyed some of our signature cocktails including the ‘The Garden Party’ and ‘Mavericks & Unicorns’ as they discussed Emily's ideal man.”

The television series works in conjunction with the dating agency Flame Introductions.
