A YORK mum has finished third in an international beauty competition.
Shany Hagan, 50, of Rawcliffe, made it all the way to the final of the global Smile Of Universe 2019 competition, which is based in Russia. Her success comes after she represented the UK in the Face of the World competition in 2016 on a whim and managed to beat competition from 3,000 applicants to become a finalist. She finished as a runner-up in the event.
Since then, Shany has received numerous offers for modelling and TV work from agencies and companies around the world.
Speaking about her latest achievement, she said: “Two Russian women finished first and second so to make it to the last two countries is amazing.
“A panel of judges made the final decision but every other round was voted for by the public worldwide.”
Shany, who is an extra on ITV’s Emmerdale, is now looking forward to representing the UK in the Miss Top Model International 2019 event in April.
