THE public has been asked to help name new mental health service in York.
Priory Medical Group has been commissioned by the Vale of York CCG to set up the first Primary Care Mental Health Service provided by GP surgeries, and aims to "reduce the stigma associated with mental health problems and make support accessible to everyone, in an environment they feel comfortable in".
A Mental Health Practitioner will support nine of the 12 local GP practices - Elvington Medical Practice, Front Street Surgery, Priory Medical Group, Haxby Group Practice, Unity Health, MyHealth, Pocklington Group Practice, Jorvik Gillygate Practice and East Parade Medical Practice, and the service will offer up to six sessions of brief intervention work to enable people to manage their mental health symptoms.
An online poll with eight possible names has been set up for the public to take part in. The shortlisted names are - Talk, You Matter, Think, Healthy Mind, Take Action, Total Health, New Directions or Positive Change.
