SCOOTER riders and motorcyclists from across the York area have raised £1,200 for cancer research through their annual Mods and Rockers charity ride.
The Inset Scooter Club presented Professor Norman Maitland from the Cancer Research Unit at the University of York with a donation in a ceremony at the Walnut Tree pub in Heworth.
The cheque was handed over by club member Chris Smith, who has himself been treated for prostate cancer, assisted by two honorary club members, York Normandy veterans Ken Smith and Ken Cooke.
“We were honoured to be joined by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Keith Orrell, and civic party, and several former civics,” said spokesman Nick Beilby.
