STAFF and pupils at a York primary school welcomed parents to the grand opening of their new library.

Cllr Danny Myers, opened the facility at Burton Green School after the council contributed £1,300 to the renovation.

He said: “The new library area shows what can be done with a little bit of imagination and a great team of staff. The children are experiencing a real change in the school’s approach to learning and this is a great benefit for our community in Clifton. We want to keep working with the school to continue helping put in place the elements that contribute to children getting the best education.”

Sarah Brownhill, business manager for the school said that the library would give a new space for an after school reading club, a place for children to socialise and an area for teachers to teach in small groups.
