CITY Screen's preview screening of Betsy West and Julie Cohen's RBG (PG) on December 20 in York will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by film producer Mia Bays.

The 98-minute documentary celebrates the life and work of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who, at the age of 84, has "developed a breathtaking legal legacy while becoming an unexpected pop-culture icon".

Without a definitive Ginsburg biography, the unique journey of this diminutive, quiet warrior in her rise to the nation's highest court has been largely unknown, even to some of her biggest fans – until now.

RBG is a revelatory documentary exploring Ginsburg 's exceptional life and career, directed by West and Cohen and co-produced by Storyville Films and CNN Films.

The 6pm screening will be introduced by the Women's Equality Party; the post-screening question-and-answer session will feature film critic Anna Smith, president of the UK Critics Circle and host of the Girls On Film podcast, and Dr Ioana Cismas, senior lecturer at the University of York's Centre for Applied Human Rights.

Host Mia Bays runs Birds' Eye View, the charitable pathfinder for films by women and the network for those who make, show, release and watch them.

"Mia is an Oscar-winning producer of documentaries and fiction, and this event is part of their Reclaim The Frame campaign to bring ever greater audiences to films by women to offer a wider perspective of the world," says City Screen marketing manager Dave Taylor.
