THE number of people in employment in Yorkshire and the Humber has risen by 72,000 on the year to a record high of 2.59 million, latest figures show.

The number of women in work has risen by 39,000 on the year to over 1.2 million.

Unemployment in the region has fallen 122,000 since 2010 to 129,000, and the unemployment rate has fallen by more than half to 4.7 per cent.
