The unit at 25 Stonegate Image: Planning documents
CLOTHING brand Toast is to open a store on Stonegate.
The company has applied to City of York Council for planning permission to put up signs outside the Grade II-listed unit at 25 Stonegate in the former Origins store.
Planning documents say the store will keep its black-painted exterior and there will be no changes made inside the building.
A statement says: "The historic fabric of the building is being retained and the proposed new signage to the shopfront will not affect the overall appearance of the building.
"From 1898 to 1902, George Walton, designer and collaborator in Glasgow with Charles Rennie Mackintosh, worked from premises at 21 Stonegate."
