Two goals in four minutes put pay to Athletic's chances, as Connor Simpson and Nicholas Platt sealed the points for the visitors.

Knaresborough stormed into a 4-0 lead after 32 minutes, as Josh Garbutt grabbed a hat-trick and Walker grabbed an early strike.

But Barton stormed back and made it 4-4 with eight minutes left.

An own goal then made it 5-4 to Knaresborough, before Walker completed his brace.

Harrogate Railway let a two-goal lead slip as they drew 2-2 with Athersley Recreation in the Premier Division.

The game may have turned on Athersley's decision to make a bold triple substitution at half time in the game played in Barnsley.

Railway stormed into a 17th-minute lead through a Aaron Kitao penalty.
