SPARK:YORK'S Cinema in the Courtyard events are up and running in Piccadilly, York.

Crowds turned out in force for Spark:York’s outdoor showing of Richard Curtis’s rom-com Love Actually on Wednesday.

Spark will be showing further classic films on Wednesday evenings in December for al fresco cinema entertainment.

You are recommended to “grab a blanket, a mug of mulled wine and some tasty street food and settle down to watch a festive classic”. Entry is free.

Coming next, on December 12, will be Elf starring Will Ferrell as Buddy the elf. After inadvertently wreaking havoc on the elf community on account of his ungainly size, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole is sent to the United States in search of his true identity.

Frank Capra’s perennial festive favourite, It’s A Wonderful Life, will follow on December 19. Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed star in this 1946 film about an angel sent from Heaven to help a desperately frustrated businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed.

Spark:York is a Community Interest Company and all profits will be reinvested into activity that benefits the York community.
