A HOME care agency has produced a calendar featuring eye-catching photographs of York taken by local residents, which will raise funds for St Leonard's Hospice.

Wetherby Home Care came up with the idea of a calendar when thinking about what it could do for its clients this Christmas.

Julie Brady, registered manager of the agency, which provides care in the Acomb, Poppleton and Rufforth areas, said: "A large number of our clients have lived in the city of York for many years but are unable to visit the city that they love due to age or ill health. We wanted to bring the city to them.

"We reached out to the local community via social media for photographs of this beautiful place and we were overwhelmed with the response. We received a huge number of fantastic photos by talented people who have captured the true beauty of York.

"Due to the amazing photographs, this calendar was too special to keep to only a small number of people, so we are selling them through our crowdfunding page for a minimum donation of £6. We will in return post you a copy of Wetherby Home Care’s Community Calendar."

All the proceeds will be donated to the hospice.

Corporate and community fundraiser for the hospice, Annie Keogh, added: “We are very grateful to Wetherby Home Care for thinking of St Leonard’s Hospice. The calendars look amazing and would make a lovely Christmas present. We are always amazed at the different ways our local business community raise funds for patient care and are delighted at the unstinting support we receive – thank you once again to all the staff at Wetherby Home Care."
