A NORTH Yorkshire presenter has won the People’s Choice Award 2018 for his work in entertainment and charity.

Ryan Swain was up against Capital Xtra’s Tim Westwood and Sir Lenny Henry. Other nominees included Big Narstie, Harry Kane, John Barnes, Danny Dyer, and Stormzy.   Ryan, from Malton, was 18 before he was officially diagnosed with Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

He has gone on to make a successful career as a presenter, raise awareness of the condition and raise funds for charity.

“I am just a normal lad from a working class community doing what I love. I am truly honoured to be even considered worthy of winning this accolade and it is a pleasure to bring it back home to Malton.

"Thank you to my loving partner Natalia and my girls Ivy and Isla for all their support and most importantly thank you to all my friends and fans who support and come to my shows.”
