LETTER: Overpopulation is the root of our problems

WE can go through all the same old patter again, and come up with ideas to combat global warming again.

But the root problem is the same as with most of the world’s problems, one that seems to be a taboo subject: the huge expansion in the world population, with more and more people all needing food, raw materials, transport infrastructure etc, and people starving in countries that for various reasons cannot cater for their needs.

The whole world should be engaged in trying to formulate policies and actions to encourage efforts to stabilise world population. Will anything happen? The odd head is raised above the parapet but many, many more of the intelligentsia (worldwide) need to start to influence the debate.
