YOUNGSTERS at a York school are helping to replenish supplies at a foodbank this Christmas.
Pupils at Yearsley Grove Primary School have been bringing in food and Christmas treats for York Foodbank.
Every child from all 15 classes has contributed over the past month and the donations will be sent to the foodbank today.
Year 6 teacher Stephen Dambrauskas said the move was the pupils' way of giving rather than receiving.
He added: "Each day a pupil has brought in something for the food bank.”
This is the third year that the school has collected for York Foodbank and it is part of the school’s ongoing ‘Kindness Campaign’. In the past, some of its other acts of kindness have included singing songs of thanks to nurses at York Hospital, entertaining the elderly at Red Lodge care home and delivering care packages to paramedics.
