North Yorkshire Police tweeted yesterday that part of Calf Close in Haxby had been closed as officers dealt with an 'ongoing incident.'
The force advised people to remain away from the area.
A police spokesman said this morning: "Police were called to a disturbance at a residential address in Haxby, York, at around 5.45pm yesterday.
"A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in police custody while inquiries continue."
