A FAMILY business is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary as one of York’s most known businesses.
Ingleby’s Luxury coaches celebrated 50 years of coach travel in York and North Yorkshire last week.
Founded in 1968 by Chris Ingleby with a Ford Transit twelve seater mini bus, the firm was originally known as Ingleby’s Mini Coaches for four years, until the first full-sized coach was bought and the trading name changed to Ingleby’s Luxury Coaches.
In 1977 the company moved from rented premises to the current site on Hospital Fields Road, Fulford Industrial Estate, and the fleet has increased each year, with 25 buses now operating in the city.
Roy Atkinson, director and chief engineer of the company, has worked at Ingleby’s for 42 years.
He said: "Ingleby’s continues to invest for the future with investment in vehicles, technology and staff. We look forward to many more years of industry-leading luxury coach travel."
