A FORMER director for a children’s book publisher has taken over a local vegetable producer company.

Eleanor Fletcher, 39 from Holgate, has taken over the vegetable box producer, Riverford Organic Farmers, in York after leaving her role at the publishers Egmont to be with her family

The company, which earlier this year, the company became employee owned, delivers boxes of vegetables to customers across York.

Under her new role, Eleanor will be responsible for deliveries in York, Hull and parts of East Yorkshire.

Eleanor, who has a young daughter with her husband Tim, a teacher, said: “Taking on the Riverford franchise is a big career change for me. I had lived in London for 16 years but after we started a family my husband and I wanted a different way of life and a fresh challenge.

“I have been a Riverford customer for many years, so me and my family have a true appreciation for the amazing product range so when the opportunity to work with the producer arose we seized it.”
