COMEDIAN James Acaster will bring his latest stage show to North Yorkshire.

Acaster, who recently starred as one of the contestants in Dave's Taskmaster, will perform his show Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999 at Scarborough Spa on Sunday, May 26.

The show is the part of a tour extension after the first 50 dates sold out, and will be the comedian's first visit to Scarborough Spa since supporting Milton Jones in 2011.

Explaining the show's title, Acaster said: "One time I bought a lasagne from the supermarket, heated it up in the oven and ate a bit of it and it wasn't very nice so I put it in the fridge because it felt wrong to dump a whole lasagne in the bin and then later on I ate a spoonful of the cold lasagne because I was drunk and it was absolutely delicious. It was 4am.

"I then changed the name of a WhatsApp I was a part of to COLD LASAGNE HATE MYSELF 1999 because I had been thinking a lot about how 1999 was the best year of my life and also about how much I hate myself sometimes. The next day I was asked to name my new show." Known for his whimsical style, Acaster has a record breaking five consecutive nominations for Best Comedy Show at the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.

He won the 2015 Chortle Award for Best Show and Best International Show Award at the 2014 New Zealand International Comedy Festival, and has regularly appeared on TV and radio shows, including Mock the Week and Would I Lie to You?

Tickets go on sale from Scarborough Spa’s box office, on 01723 821888 and online at scarboroughspa.co.uk on Friday, December 7, from 10am.
