POLICE are going to supermarkets next month to help North Yorkshire residents protect themselves and their belongings over the Christmas period.
North Yorkshire Police are holding special Christmas roadshows at Sainsbury's in Tadcaster on Saturday and at the Co-op in Sherburn-in-Elmet on December 8, both from 10am to 2pm.
Members of the Selby Neighbourhood Policing Team and police support volunteers will give safety advice focusing on Christmas in the home, on the road, at parties and en route to and from parties, as well as how to buy safely online and social media advice.
Inspector Martin Wedgwood, of Selby Police, said: "We all recognise the potential for increased offending during the Christmas period, which can often spoil festivities, especially for the more vulnerable members of our community.
"The information provided will help you to avoid becoming a victim of crime and so make Christmas safer and more enjoyable for everyone."
