CITY of York Council has confirmed that Copmanthorpe Primary School will reopen tomorrow as planned following a "deep clean."

The school closed on Monday due to a suspected norovirus outbreak.

More than 50 pupils and staff were affected by the outbreak.

A council spokeswoman said: “A full deep clean of the school buildings and equipment has been carried out and the incubation period has now passed.

“It is vitally important for the elimination of this outbreak that children are not sent to school until they are 48 hours clear of any symptoms.

“The decision to close the school was taken following consultation with the council’s public health team and Public Health England.”
