A CAR has crashed into a wall in Acomb.

Two police vans and two fire engines are understood to be attending the accident in Oak Rise, Acomb, near Morrisons supermarket.

An eyewitness said she turned round to see a saloon car hit a garden wall.

Téba Diatta said: “I heard a crunch and turned to see the car stuck in the wall.

“There was debris all over the road.

“Another car was also mounted on the curb. A baby was crying but someone took her out the car to make sure they were safe.”

Cllr Andrew Waller said: "I arrived at the scene shortly after the police and ambulance service arrived.

"People were doing a great job of clearing up debris to make sure no other cars were damaged.

"I rang the council to make sure someone was coming down to help clear up the debris."
