NORTH Yorkshire Police have urged farmers to be vigilant after thousands of pounds worth of crops were damaged.

A spokesman said there had been "an increase in damage to crops" in the Skipwith, North and South Duffield and Selby area in recent weeks.

He said: "In one incident a lock has been smashed off the gate and then a vehicle has driven around a field full of crops costing around £2,000 worth of damage."

Any sightings should be reported on 101.
