EVERYTHING looks so dramatic in black and white.
That has to be the verdict from all the stunning pictures flooding into our Camera Club Facebook page to tie in with this month's monochrome competition theme.
Barney Sharratt's picture is a case in point, where his snap of an umbel from the banks of the Ouse could be mistaken for a close up of a snowflake.
And it's an excuse to get arty – as Susan JB does with her portrait of a woman hiding her face with a giant leaf.
Paul Anthony White takes a shot of a flight of stairs and a door – seemingly very ordinary, but much more interesting in black and white when you see the contrast of the bricks and how it is framed.
Talking of composition, full marks to Pam Jackson for this intriguing shot of a tree stump with a hollow that invites the eye to see beyond, creating great depth in the shot.
Of course not all our members are shooting in black and white. Phill James's shot of a log full of coins really captures the texture of the piece, as does Emma Richardson's image of dandelion puff-ball, tempting us all to blow and make a wish.
