POLICE were called to Ouse Bridge in York early this morning where a 19-year-old man was on the wrong side of the railing.

North Yorkshire Police said it received a concern for safety report at around 3.10am.

Police attended Ouse Bridge and the man agreed to come to the safe side shortly afterwards, a police spokesman said, adding: “He was taken to hospital to receive care and support.”

The spokesman also said: “The fire service and the York Rescue Boat were on standby as a precaution.”
