I fully support Jane Horton’s letter (The Press, November 15) regarding the uninformed criticism of the names chosen for the new streets at Germany Beck.
To add to the history of the Thornton family’s association with Fulford going back more than 100 years, my grandfather Claude Thornton, also a plumber, lived with his family in Main Street.
He was also a son of Charles William Thornton referred to in Jane’s letter.
The street name Thornton Road will be a fitting tribute to a family which gave vital service support to the community for so long.
I urge Persimmon not to change the proposal.
