THE removal of the indoor ski slope at Selby Leisure Centre and Summit Indoor Adventure is set to continue next week.

New party and function spaces have been created after Selby District Council invested thousands of pounds in making the changes.

The new spaces will be available for party hire, new children’s classes, an extended gym and new group exercise programme including mind and body classes.

Development begins on Monday (November 26), and continues until early February, but facilities including the sauna, bowling alley, climbing wall, ride and skate park, adventure play area and aerial trek will still be available.

Managing director of Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles Peter Burt, which runs the site for the council, said: "We need to remain flexible in order to meet the constantly changing needs of customers. These exciting changes provide us with more usable space across the sites and allow us to meet the growing demand for exercise classes, parties and events."

Council leader Mark Crane said: "By developing the Summit in this way we can ensure we provide the people in Selby and surrounding area with the space they really want from their leisure facilities."
