TICKETS are selling fast already for Pocklington Arts Centre’s Punchline Christmas Comedy Gala on December 14, when Tom Houghton, Tom Binns and Lee Ridley, alias Lost Voice Guy, take to the stage.

"Our comedy gala has sold out for the past15 years running and there's now limited availability on tickets for this incredibly popular event next month," says director Janet Farmer.

Tom Houghton comes to Pock with tales of growing up and discovering that true honour often lies where you would least expect it, having latterly acquired the title of "The Honourable". Not by his own merit – he has been sacked from Wetherspoons twice – but by the traditional aristocratic way, by default.

His father, General Sir Nicholas Houghton, the ex-Chief of Defence Staff and now Constable of the Tower of London no less, was inducted into the House of Lords, which makes Tom "honourable" apparently.

Character comedian Tom Binns, alias Hospital DJ Ivan Brackenbury, is making a return visit, and you may well recognise Lee Ridley, the Lost Voice Guy, as the winner of Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year. He may not be able to talk, but he definitely has something to say.

Looking forward to this Punchline triple bill, Janet says: "We're so pleased with our line-up for this year’s Punchline Comedy Gala; we've personally seen all of this year’s fantastic acts live, so can vouch for just what an amazing night of live comedy this is going to be.

"We saw Tom Houghton at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe and were blown away by him; he is just absolutely brilliant. “Tom Binns, and his character-led comedy, is a Pocklington Arts Centre favourite; he is just hilarious and I know the audience will love him again when he comes to Pocklington.

"Lost Voice Guy is a great contrast to the other performers. He’s just been doing amazingly well since his time on Britain’s Got Talent, and we're so delighted to have him as part of this diverse, dynamic line-up for what will be an amazing night of live comedy."

The master of ceremonies for this 7.30pm show will be comedy club and festival regular Paul Pirie; the bar will be open until late. Tickets cost £16 on 01759 301547 or at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk.
