POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to, following a report of concern for the safety of a woman in York city centre.
In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said: "The report regarding the women was made at 4.30am on Saturday.
"The man captured in the CCTV footage may hold information that will insist in the investigation.
"He is black and aged between his late 20s and early 30’s, wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and light coloured trainers.
"He had a beard which is described as ‘flat to his face’ with short, shaven hair."
Police would not go into further details about their investigation but said the man was first seen in the Christmas Market area of York, near the the Christmas tree, towards market street.
He was later seen in the area of Spurriergate and Coppergate, heading in the direction of King Street.
