TEMPERATURES are set to plunge in York and North Yorkshire in the coming week, with a possibility of sleet or snow on the hills.
After a fine, sunny and relatively mild weekend, forecasters expect maximum temperatutes to reach no higher than 7C on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and it will feel even chillier in a breezy easterly wind which will be drawing in cold air from Scandinavia and Russia.
Rain is expected on Tuesday evening, which may turn wintry over higher ground, and more sleet and snow may fall on Wednesday on the hills, although York should be spared this.
