A MOTORCYLIST was taken to hospital with head injuries after a crash in York last night.
North Yorkshire Police said the accident happened at about 8pm near the Clifton Hotel in Water Lane,Clifton.
A force spokeswoman said the collision involved a motorcycle and a van, and the motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital.
However, the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said today that while the Yorkshire Air Aambulance was deployed to the scene, the motrorcyclist was actually taken by road ambulance to York Hospital with a head injury.
A source said an air ambulance helicopter landed in the grounds of the former Canon Lee School.
Water Lane was closed for about an hour after the crash.
