Dr Marmion says it’s not pseudoscience to challenge experts or to offer counterarguments (Commonsense view on climate change, October 31).

Fair enough. But even the BBC, whose remit is to offer a balance of opinions, has now briefed staff that manmade climate change exists and that the BBC does not need to interview climate change sceptics to achieve impartiality.

The briefing continues: ‘There is a general consensus that it could be devastating in many different ways’.

It seems like common sense to move the debate on from whether climate change exists to how to deal with causes of climate change and the effects already being felt across the planet.

The debate needs to involve scientists, experts, governments and people on a local, national and global level. We share this planet.

We all need to take responsibility and find solutions together.
