THE comparison of pictures of old St Sampson’s Square and modern St Sampson’s Square in Yesterday Once More (Squares go the full circle, The Press, November 12) was of great interest to me.
City of York Council have been searching for a replacement for the old fountain in Parliament Street. Perhaps a facsimile of the elaborate market bell pictured in one of the paintings would be an ideal replacement?
